Here's the information on FLARE DAY, Redondo Beach. Boaters can bring old flares and shoot them off or just get them disposed of.

To be held at Moonstone Park, 280 Marina Way, Redondo Beach 90277 on Sunday, May 18, 2008. 0900 - Coast Guard Demo, 1000 to 1200 Public shoot and there will be fire extinguisher demos.

Enter the security gate and tell guard you are going to the Flare Shoot and they will let you in free. Moonstone Park is across from the Stacks at RB and near the Blue Water Grill.

This is the seventh year of the Shoot Off and it's always the Sunday of Armed Forces Weekend.

FLARE DAY MAY SUNDAY, MAY 18

Please help get the word out to yacht club members that Flare Day is this SUNDAY 18 MAY in Redondo. The basic time frame is as follows:

0830 Setup with Redondo Beach Harbor Patrol/Fire Department
0900-1200 CGAUX Boating Safety Exhibit
0900 CGAUX demonstration & training (flares & fire extinguishers)
1000 Public flare shoot and training (CGAUX to provide event safety/security)
1200 Secure event

Official Uniform of the Day is ODU, but members are welcome to attend in civilian attire if they do not own ODUs. We hope to have a CGAUX patrol boat to enforce the safety zone inside King Harbor. We may have CGAIRSTA conduct a limited demo/fly-by.

Flotilla 12-05 and RBHP are facilitating the event and we will be following Incident Command System protocols as a Unified Command. FC Lesley has appointed me as Incident Commander with SGT Kelly Jones, RB Harbor Patrol.
